The pupils and teachers decided to mark the millennium by burying a time capsule in the school grounds on December 16, 1999, not te be dug up again until 2020.

Inside the capsule was a short history of the school (see History), a photo of the millennium sixth year class, the school crest and homework journal, a video of the morning of December 16, a copy of the local newspaper, a list of pupils and staff, a millennium poem from Sean Power T.D., a photo and a short biography from Alan Dukes, T.D., and various contributions from first and second year students.

(Mr. Ferry, the History teacher who supervised this project, and Father O'Sullivan, the manager of the school.)

The capsule was constructed from unused stainless steel from the materials technology department and all of the items were sealed to prevent deterioration, while silica gel packets were included to combat humidity.
