St.Paul’s Monasterevin retain

For the second year in succession, the boys from St.Pauls, Monasterevin won the FAI (schools) U-17 Midland League, with a resounding win over Athy Community College. Goals in the first half by Colin Mc.Cabe and Laois Minor Niall Donoher saw them holding a comfortable lead at half time. With the wind at their backs in the Second Half, the reds firmly took control of the game with a 56th minute header by substitute Lee Hunt. The win was sealed in the dying minutes with a tremendous goal by 'Captain Fantastic' Clifford Holligan. The Athy lads fought all of the way with good performances by Craig Dunphy and Lee Davis. Man of the match was awarded to Paul Muldowney, the Monasterevin 'Sweeper' who yet again had another faultless game.
